SWUFE Scholar Attend OECD Academic Coference
From December 8th to 10th 2009, Dr. Liuzhong, Professor from School of Business Administration attended academic conference Empowering E-consumers: Strengthening Consumer Protection in the Internet Economy, held by Department of Science&Technology and Department of Industry of OECD in Washington D.C. Just four days before the conference, Dr Liu took part in the Chicago Seminar on Ronald Coase's academic work, which was held in memory of the winner of Nobel Prize for Economics.
    OECD invited policy-makers from some of its member countries, scholars from famous academic institutes and think tanks, representatives from influential consumer protecting authorities and global electric-business companys to this conference. And the whole conference was broadcast live through the Internet. In Dr. Liu's speech, he made an introduction of e-business in China, government policys that was established to protect e-business, and some challenges we may meet.
    Before the OECD conference, at the invitation of George Mason University Law School, Dr. Liu attended seminar Markets, Firms and Property RightsA celebration of the Research of Ronald Coase. Professor Ronald Coase, honored by Nobel Prize for Economics will have his 100th birthday. In memory of his academic work, George Mason University invited 32 scholars of law and economics, including 4 Nobel Prizes of Economics and several scholars of law to the seminar. On the meeting, Dr. Liu discussed academic researches with Ronald Coase, Vernon Smith, Harold Demsetz, Thomas Hazlett, and other scholars. Dr. Lui introduced the economics lab of SWUFE to Professor Vernon Smith, who was called the father of experimental economics. Professor Veron Smith said he would be pleased to recommend some scholars to SWUFE and it is possible for him to visit SWUFE when the economics lab was successfully funded.
