Feng Xide£¬Secretary of the Party Committee£¬Head a Mission to Universities in UK and France
2009-11-27
From October 10, 2009 to October 19, 2009, Feng Xide headed a mission to universities in UK and France with an aim to investigate the development strategy adopted by foreign universities, the experience drawn from the construction of modern universities, the progress of the reform of undergraduate education and teaching methods, as well as to discuss and establish cooperative school system between SWUFE and relevant universities. The mission paid their visits to University of Glasgow, The London School of Economics and Political Science and Universite de Haute-Alsace, where they have been warmly received. Wherever they went, Mr. Feng and the delegates gave detailed account of SWUFE¡¯S characteristics and cooperation intention. Discussion went deep during the visits in aspects like different management system of higher education system in UK and France, target location and university characteristics, teacher appointment system and promotion measures, general education, teaching management system and operational mechanism, course offering and elective system, and internationalized personnel training.
During the visits, Mr. Feng, on behalf of SWFUE, signed official interscholastic agreements with Professor Anton Muscatelli, president of University of Glasgow and Professor Alain Brillard, president of Universite de Haute-Alsace. The agreements, which received high attention from the local government and media, laid out specific arrangements for comprehensive cooperation in fields like academic research, personnel training, building-up of ranks of teachers and school management. The mission also came to see exchange students in University of Glasgow and Heriot-Watt University, inquiring about their work and life and encouraging them to make the most of the opportunity of studying abroad and to work hard to achieve an all-round improvement of their quality.
Remarkable results have been achieved in the ten days¡¯ visit. Investigations on the management system and teaching reform of higher education in UK and France have provided us with valuable experiences to drawn on in our efforts to further deepening the reform and building SWUFE into a top financial university with distinctive features. Establishing friendly cooperation with the three above-mentioned universities, which contributes to enhanced communication and deeper understanding in interscholastic relations, is of great significance in our efforts to expanding our international cooperation and communication and to accelerating the internationalization process.
